What to expect from a chauffeur service

A first-timer's walk-through, from booking to drop-off.

If you have never hired a chauffeur, it can feel like something for other people. In practice it is simple: you tell us where you need to be and when, and a professional driver takes care of the rest. Here is what the experience looks like, step by step.

Booking

You send the date, the pick-up and drop-off, the number of passengers and anything special. We reply with a recommended vehicle and a quote. Once you confirm, we hold the vehicle and the driver. There is no need to know the exact model you want; tell us the occasion and we will suggest.

Before the journey

You will receive confirmation of the details, and your driver will be in touch if there is anything to confirm. It helps to keep your phone on in the hour before pick-up, in case the driver needs to reach you about access or parking.

The pick-up

Your driver aims to arrive early, so the vehicle is ready when you are. They will greet you, take care of luggage, open the door and make sure you are settled. You do not need to tip in advance or sort anything on the pavement. If there is a stop to add, just say so.

During the journey

  • Chauffeurs are used to discretion, so you can work, take calls or talk privately.
  • If you want quiet, say so. If you want to chat or ask about the area, that is fine too.
  • Temperature, music and the route are all things you can ask about.
  • Let the driver know if you want to change the plan, add a stop or leave later.

The drop-off

Your driver will take you as close to the door as possible, help with bags, and wait if arrangements need it. If you are being collected later, confirm the time and place before you get out.

Etiquette: a short guide

  • Be ready at the agreed time, or let the driver know if you will be late.
  • Tell us about luggage and extra passengers in advance.
  • Ask before eating or drinking in the vehicle.
  • If something is not right, say so on the day so it can be fixed.
  • Gratuities are entirely up to you.

What makes a good chauffeur service

Punctuality, clean vehicles, professional drivers, clear communication and a plan when something goes wrong. Our Why Prestige Travel page explains how we approach this, and our luxury chauffeur cars page shows what you can book.
