Chelmsford is the county town of Essex and, since 2012, a city. It has the cathedral, the cricket ground, the university and a good deal of local business, and that mix of civic, commercial and student life shapes the travel we are asked to arrange here.
Business and county life
Chelmsford has long been a centre for engineering and technology, with Marconi's first wireless factory established here, and today it hosts offices, headquarters and the county's administrative base. Companies book us for directors and visiting clients, and for staff days out. The Mercedes S-Class is the usual choice for executive travel; our corporate chauffeur services page has the detail.
Trains, roads and airports
Chelmsford station is on the Great Eastern main line to Liverpool Street, and the A12 and A130 connect the city to London, the M25 and the coast. Stansted and Southend are both options for flights, along with Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton and London City. We collect at the time you give us, and track flights on return.
Graduations and student travel
Anglia Ruskin University has a campus in Chelmsford, and students and families travel for open days, graduation ceremonies and the start and end of term. A chauffeur or minibus is useful for a family with a lot of luggage or a group of relatives attending the same ceremony.
Weddings and celebrations
Chelmsford and the Essex villages around it are popular for weddings. A couple can travel in a Rolls-Royce Ghost, with a minibus for the wedding party. Any venue is fine; see wedding car hire in Essex.
Parks and open space
Hylands Park, with its house and large open grounds, and Central Park in the city centre are the places most associated with Chelmsford. If you are travelling to a large outdoor event, see concerts and live events and major events for how we plan the journey.
Villages and suburbs we cover

Visitors travelling to Chelmsford
Business visitors and families arriving by train, or flying into Stansted or Southend, can be collected and brought to their meeting, hotel or home. A driver meets arrivals with a name board and tracks the flight, so a delayed plane does not mean a missed pick-up.
Large events and outdoor venues
Travelling to a big event in a park or a showground takes planning. Give us the date, the venue, the number travelling and the finish time, and we will plan the arrival and the return. The organiser sets the access arrangements, so share any instructions they send you.
Using a chauffeur for a full day
For a day of meetings, site visits or family events spread across the county, an hourly or full-day booking keeps a chauffeur and vehicle with you for as long as you need them. See hourly chauffeur hire.
